Paris Saint-Germain are ready to inflict further misery on Barcelona by entering the race to sign Liverpool ace Philippe Coutinho at the end of the season, reports SPORT.
Barcelona had several bids for Coutinho in excess of £100m rejected by Liverpool over the summer, even though the Brazil international handed in a transfer request to force through a move.
It remains to be seen whether Barcelona will reignite their pursuit of the Liverpool midfielder at the end of the season, but they could now expect fierce competition from PSG.
Unai Emery’s side signed Neymar from Barcelona over the summer for a world record £193m fee and the 25-year-old has reportedly recommended his international team-mate to PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi.
After missing the start of the season, Coutinho is starting to reach his best form. The 25-year-old has scored in each of his last three appearances for Liverpool and each strike was from outside of the box.
In fact, in the last three Premier League campaigns, Coutinho has scored at least three more goals from outside the box than any other player (12).
