Tottenham turn attention to Real Madrid in defender pursuit
Tottenham are considering a loan move for Real Madrid centre-back Eder Militao this month, and including an option to buy to sweeten the deal, reports Italian publication Corriere dello Sport.
Spurs reinforced at the back in the summer window, acquiring Joe Rodon from Swansea, but with Davinson Sanchez's future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium looking bleak, Jose Mourinho is wary at being caught short of defensive options.
Militao has struggled for regular game time following his 2019 arrival from FC Porto, making just 11 league starts for Los Blancos.
This season, the Brazilian has made only two competitive starts, with Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos currently Zinedine Zidane's first choice centre-back pairing.
Mourinho could look to strike a deal with Real Madrid for Militao as the Spurs boss seeks to reinforce his defensive ranks ahead of the second half of the season.
However, if Real Madrid are prepared to allow the 22-year-old to leave, Spurs would face competition from Italy for Militao, with Roma, AC Milan and Inter all keen on the Brazil international.
Spurs have been impressive at the back in 2020/21, conceding just 15 times in the Premier League; only Manchester City (13) have shipped fewer.
