Eriksen had interest, confirms agent

Christian Eriksen’s agent Martin Schoots has revealed there was plenty of interest in the creative midfielder this summer before he signed a new four-year deal with Tottenham.

The Denmark international had been locked in contract talks for the best part of 12 months with Tottenham about increasing his pay to align him with the club’s highest earners.

In that time Eriksen courted a lot of interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain before Laurent Blanc was sacked.

“Now that everything is closed down, I can tell you that the situation has never really changed since Christian was 14 years old, and the first club rang.,” Schoots told Danish newspaper BT, via The Daily Star. They have continued to come in the latest period.

“There has been definite interest from four Champions League teams from France, Spain, Italy and England. Two of them have played in a Champions League final not so long ago.

“One of the managers was Laurent Blanc, who even spoke openly about his interest some time ago. Christian is flattered by all interest, but he never wanted to do anything with it. As I said, he’s just happy at Tottenham. And he always wanted to be there for a long time.”
