Real Madrid star Gareth Bale is facing three weeks out with a muscle problem in his right leg, according to Marca.
Bale, 26, was substituted at half-time in Madrid’s 5-1 thrashing of Sporting Gijon at the weekend, having already scored once and registered an assist.
Zinedine Zidane opted against risking the Welshman, but it is now being reported that scan results will reveal the world’s most expensive player will be sidelined for nearly a month.
If true then the former Spurs winger will miss league games with Real Betis, Espanyol and Granada and be a huge doubt for the first-leg of their Champions League last-16 tie with Roma.
Bale had been in tremendous form prior to this injury, which comes as a huge blow to the Wales international who looked to be emerging as their main man.
In fact, Bale’s eighth goal in his last five matches at the weekend means he has now scored at least two more headed goals than any other player across Europe’s top five leagues this season (7).
