Brighton turn to Celtic star to ease goal woes

Brighton are prepared to use a chunk of the £50m they'll receive from the sale of Ben White towards signing Odsonne Edouard, reports The Express.

White is set to complete a big money switch to Arsenal this summer, which will boost the Brighton coffers ahead of the season.

One of Brighton's issues last season was their failure to score consistently, but head coach Graham Potter is hoping to rectify the Seagulls' profligacy with the capture of Edouard.

The Frenchman finished the 2020/21 Scottish Premiership season as the top scorer in the division having netted 18 times for Celtic.

Edouard has just a year left to run on his current deal with Celtic and has been linked with a Premier League switch for the last 12 months, with Arsenal and Leicester believed to be monitoring the striker.

However, Brighton are hoping to get a deal over the line for the 23-year-old once White's move to Arsenal is confirmed.

Brighton scored just 40 Premier League goals last season, that the sixth lowest return in England's top tier, with Neal Maupay ending the campaign as their top scorer with eight goals to his name.
