Arsenal to sell Mkhitaryan this summer

Arsenal have decided they will sell Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the summer to raise funds to strengthen other areas of their squad, claims The Daily Mirror.

Mkhitaryan joined Arsenal from rivals Manchester United in January 2018 in a deal that saw Alexis Sanchez move in the other direction.

The Armenia international flattered to deceive at Old Trafford and has also been a relative disappointment for Arsenal.

Arsenal could only afford loan signings in January and Unai Emery will not have that much money to spend in the summer unless he sells first.

The Gunners are struggling to find suitors for Mesut Ozil due to his colossal wages and will now attempt to cash in on Mkhitaryan.

Selling the 30-year-old will not be straightforward, however, as Arsenal also handed the Armenian a lucrative deal when he signed from United.

Part of the reason Arsenal are crippled financially at the moment is due to big contracts handed to Ozil, Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January last year.

Despite struggling for regular playing time this season, Mkhitaryan has played a direct hand in 10 goals in 18 league appearances (six goals, four assists).

In fact, the Arsenal No.7 averages a goal and assist every 116.1 minutes of action in the Premier League this season.
