Arsenal pursue move for £35m-rated midfielder

Arsenal have stepped up their interest in Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves, claims The Sun.

Mikel Arteta is plotting an overhaul of his Arsenal squad this summer with the likes of Hector Bellerin and Granit Xhaka poised to leave.

The Gunners have so far been forced into making some low-profile additions but sporting director Edu is now in contact with super agent Jorge Mendes about Neves.

Wolves are also going through a summer of change after replacing Nuno with Bruno Lage and selling first-choice goalkeeper Rui Patricio to Roma.

Discussions are now taking place about selling £35m-rated midfielder Neves to Arsenal after four years at the club.

While Arsenal are keen on signing the Portugal international, they would hope to drive down Wolves' valuation of the 24-year-old.

Neves has scored four goals from outside the area across the last three Premier League campaigns; no Arsenal player has managed more in the same time.
