Andrew Robertson has revealed he has held talks with Jurgen Klopp over his Liverpool future less than four months after joining.
The Scotland international joined Liverpool from Hull over the summer but has failed to make any impression since his arrival.
Robertson was expected to slot straight into starting XI for Liverpool this season but Alberto Moreno’s shock resurgence has stifled his development at Anfield.
The 23-year-old has been limited to just two Premier League appearances and one League Cup outing for Liverpool and the defender has revealed he has already spoken to Klopp about his involvement.
“Of course it’s difficult for me. I don’t make any secret of it. I hate not playing,” Robertson told the Liverpool Echo.
“It’s been a very frustrating three months for me. I was looking forward to the Holland game to, hopefully, get some game time. I’m delighted to have got 90 minutes.
“I was a bit rusty and it probably caught up with me in the last 20 minutes, but that’s something I’ve got to look. I need to get more game time.
“If I can keep doing what I’m doing then, hopefully, my chance will come. I’ve spoken to the manager because I felt as if the settling-in period was over for me and I thought I was ready to play.
“I felt I did myself justice in the games I have played so I had a good chat with him, he gave me a few points to work on and that’s kept me going.
“I know I’m still well in his plans and, if I work on the things he’s asked me to, then, hopefully, I’ll be in the first-team, or closer to it.”
The biggest hurdle for Robertson to overcome will be to usurp Moreno in the pecking order at Liverpool following the Spaniard’s surprise return to favour.
No player has registered more assists in the Champions League than Moreno this season (3).
