Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has moved to cool speculation linking the club with a summer move for Manchester United outcast Luke Shaw.
The 22-year-old has dropped down the pecking order at United this season and has been dug out on numerous occasions by manager Jose Mourinho leading to suspicions the left-back will be sold in the summer.
Shaw insists he is going to give it his all to make it at United but it seems extremely unlikely that he will convince Mourinho of his worth before the end of the season next month when he has failed to do so already.
The England international would not be short of suitors but it remains to be seen where he could realistically end up, and Hughes has all but confirmed Stoke are not one of those options.
“You look at all good players, but that’s not one that’s realistic for us, to be honest,” The Stoke Sentinel quote Hughes as saying ahead of the weekend’s action.
Shaw has only started seven games in the Premier League this season and his time at United since making the £27m switch from Southampton in 2014 has been far from straight forward.
Louis van Gaal was also very vocal in his frustrations over Shaw, mainly to do with his conditioning, while a horror double leg break looks to have taken its toll on the youngster mentally.
