Queens Park Rangers’ bid to seal promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking has been dealt a set-back back after revealing their star striker Charlie Austin is set for a month on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.
Austin, 26, was forced off midway through the second half of QPR’s shock 4-0 defeat to Fulham at the weekend and will now miss the next four weeks of action after sustaining an “acute muscle injury to his left hamstring”, a club statement read.
The England striker had looked set to leave Loftus Road over the summer, but resisted temptation following several offers late in the transfer window and has since started the Championship campaign in fine fashion. In fact, no player has scored more goals than Austin in England’s second-tier thus far (7).
