Tottenham boost in pursuit of Barcelona defender

Tottenham have been given the green light to make a move for defender Marc Bartra after Barcelona told the defender he can leave in the summer, reports The Daily Mirror.

Bartra, 25, is another talent to have progressed out of Barcelona’s fabled academy but he has barely featured for the Catalonian outfit and has been restricted to just three league starts this season.

The Spain international has even struggled to make Luis Enrique’s matchday squads this season and his exit would come as no surprise given those above him in the pecking order.

Enrique has given the board the all clear to sanction his sale in the summer on a buyback deal, with Sevilla and Spurs the frontrunners for his signature.

Since making his full league debut in the 2010/11 campaign, Barcelona have only lost one league game from the 36 matches Bartra has started (77.8% win ratio).
