Leicester failed with a £10m move for West Brom defender Jonny Evans before turning their attention to Hull’s Harry Maguire, reports The Daily Mail.
The Foxes are reportedly on the verge of signing Maguire in a £17m deal as Craig Shakespeare looks to bolster his defensive options ahead of the new season.
However, Leicester were first hopeful of securing Evans’s services having been interested in the Northern Ireland international ever since he left Manchester United in 2015.
Evans pledged his future to West Brom earlier this summer and Tony Pulis’ side told Leicester that their star defender is categorically not for sale at any price this summer.
The 29-year-old is expected to be named West Brom captain next season after Darren Fletcher joined Stoke on a free transfer earlier this summer.
In the last two Premier League campaigns, only Simon Francis (305) and Laurent Koscielny (279) have won possession in the defensive third more times than Evans (267)
