Crystal Palace do not have option to sign Liverpool ace
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed Crystal Palace do not have an option to make Mamadou Sakho’s transfer permanent at the end of the season.
Sakho has been a revelation for Palace since joining on loan in the January transfer window and has inspired a tremendous run of form that has helped ease their relegation concerns.
Palace would understandably look to secure Sakho’s services on a full-time basis but they are unlikely to do so now Klopp has confirmed they do not have any option to buy in the loan agreement.
Sakho isn’t expected to return to Liverpool at the end of the season after falling out of favour under Klopp but Palace are unlikely to be able to afford to match Liverpool’s valuation of the Frenchman, as well as fend off interest from rival clubs.
“There is no clause in the loan contract,” the Liverpool Echo quote Klopp as saying on Thursday.
Sakho has only made six Premier League appearances for Palace this season but Sam Allardyce’s side have won five of those, including wins against Chelsea and Arsenal, keeping four clean sheets in the process.
Palace are now six points above the bottom three and Sakho’s importance to that cannot be understated.
