Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina is on the verge of joining Serie A side Napoli on an initial season-long loan deal, claims Sky Sports.
Ospina has been heavily linked with a move away from Arsenal in recent years but is now poised to leave after becoming third choice at the Emirates over the summer.
The Gunners signed Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen in the transfer window, all but confirming Ospina has no future at Arsenal under new manager Unai Emery.
Turkish side Besiktas were reportedly interested in signing Ospina but now it has emerged the Colombia international is on the cusp of joining Napoli.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side are on the market for a new goalkeeper after last season’s No.1 Pepe Reina left to sign for rivals AC Milan.
Napoli have already signed Orestis Karnezis and Alex Meret on loan from Udinese to bolster their goalkeeping options but Ospina will undergo his medical with the club on Thursday.
The Serie A outfit will have the option to make Ospina’s stay permanent at the end of next season in a deal that is worth up to €7m.
Ospina has spent the last four years at Arsenal but has never been first choice during that time, never making more than 18 league appearances in a single-campaign for the Gunners.
The 29-year-old has kept 12 clean sheets in 29 league appearances during that period, garnering a WhoScored rating of 6.98 in the process.
