PSG announce signing of Alves

Paris Saint-Germain have announced the singing of Dani Alves, with the experienced defender penning a two-year deal for the Parisian side.

The Brazilian full-back was a free agent after negotiating his release from Juventus after just one season in Italy following his move to Turin from Barcelona last summer.

Manchester City were believed to be leading the race to sign the 34-year-old, but have missed out on one of their top targets, with PSG succeeding in making a late swoop for the right-back.

PSG are believed to have offered double the money City were offering Alves, as per ESPN, and having been expected to undergo his medical with the Premier League side on Tuesday, Alves instead flew to Paris to complete the requisite tests before penning a contract with the Ligue 1 giants.

It remains to be seen how Alves’ move to PSG will impact Serge Aurier’s future at the club.

The Ivory Coast international has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United and Juventus, with the French side supposedly prepared to sanction his sale.
