Robert Lewandowski’s agent hits back at Manchester United switch

The agent of Robert Lewandowski has shot down suggestions the Bayern Munich striker could move to Manchester United in the summer after questioning why some of his client’s class would ever be a ‘plan B’.

United believe a deal to sign Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann will be too complicated this summer and have begun to look at alternative options with Lewandowski reportedly among their new targets.

The Poland international has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid in the last 12 months before putting his future to bed by signing a new long-term deal with Bayern in December.

However, his commitment to Bayern has seemingly not put United off from testing the waters, although they already appear to have blown their chance before.

“Does any top player in the world want to be a plan B,” his agent, Maik Barthel, told ESPN when asked about a potential move to United.

The 28-year-old is widely considered as one of the best strikers in Europe and he would not come cheaply for any suitor should Bayern even be willing to consider letting the former Borussia Dortmund striker leave in the summer.

In fact, in the last five Bundesliga campaigns Lewandowski has scored at least 35 more goals than any other player (115).
