England boss Roy Hodgson could be without Danny Welbeck for the European Championships in the summer amid fears the Arsenal forward has suffered another serious knee injury.
Welbeck, 25, was forced off midway through the first half of Arsenal’s 2-2 draw against Manchester City on Sunday and the England international is now sweating on the results of a scan on Monday.
Wenger revealed there were concerns Welbeck had damaged the meniscus in his right knee following a tackle with Bacary Sagna in the first-half and it has come at the worst time with Hodgson set to announce his England squad on Thursday.
The former Manchester United striker only returned from a serious knee injury in February following 10 months out and now looks set for major tournament heartache.
Only Alexis Sanchez (7) has scored more league goals for Arsenal in 2016 than Welbeck (4).
