Sheffield United set to sign Liverpool striker

Sheffield United are set to win the race for starlet Rhian Brewster after agreeing to Liverpool's £40m buy-back clause, claims The Sun.

Brewster is pushing to leave Liverpool before the transfer window closes in search of regular playing time, with a queue of Premier League clubs jostling for his signature.

Jurgen Klopp started the summer with no intention of offloading the England Under-21 international but the situation has changed following their unexpected spending spree.

With Liverpool keen to recoup money from the signings of Kostas Tsimikas, Thiago and Diogo Jota, Brewster will be sacrficied.

The defending Premier League champions were hoping to raise money through sales of Marko Grujic, Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri but there have been no takers for any.

Sheffield United have aleady bolstered their offensive options this summer by signing Oli Burke from West Brom but have now bid £17m for Brewster.

Brewster spent the second half of last season on loan at Swansea and was a revelation in the Championship, finishing with 11 goals in 22 appearances.

Moreover, the 20-year-old impressively never went more than two games without scoring a league goal for Swansea.
