De Gea set for new Manchester United contract offer

David de Gea expects to be offered a new Manchester United deal this summer, claims The Daily Telegraph.

De Gea has entered the final year of his existing United contract and has been heavily linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

The 28-year-old has endured a torrid 12 months for club and country and has even lost his No.1 spot for the Spanish national team.

De Gea only kept seven clean sheets in 38 league appearances last season and committed four errors directly leading to an opposition goal in that time.

PSG will test United’s resolve with a £60m bid after confirming Gianluigi Buffon’s departure earlier this month.

United have made it clear they will not sell De Gea this summer even if they fail to agree a new deal before the start of next season.

The Red Devils have been locked in contract talks with De Gea’s camp for the past 18 months but the Spaniard has knocked back their best offers.

De Gea set for new Manchester United contract offer

De Gea, who could leave United on a free transfer in the summer of 2020, is expecting another new contract offer.

De Gea wants to be aligned as one of the club’s highest earners, which leaves United facing the prospect of matching Alexis Sanchez’s £500,000-a-week wages.

United’s previous contract offer was reportedly in the region of £350,000-a-week and it remains to be seen how high they are willing to go.
