Sassuolo have confirmed Juventus are not the only team interested in signing highly rated forward Domenico Berardi amid speculation linking the 21-year-old to Liverpool.
The Serie A spent £7.2m to obtain full ownership of Berardi from Juventus in the summer after Italy’s co-ownership system came to an end.
Juventus have first right to buy-back the Italy U21 international for £13.7m, but Sassuolo aren’t looking to sell their star player when the transfer window reopens in January.
“I can rule out a January move,” Sassuolo’s managing director Giovanni Carnevali told Italian newspaper Tuttosport. “That’s not part of our company policy.
“Last year, we invested €10m (£7.2m) in him. For now Berardi is completely a Sassuolo player and we’re not a club that needs to sell.
“With Juventus it’s an open discussion. It’s an advantage, but Juventus are not the only ones to be following Berardi.”
Since the start of the 2013/14 campaign, only four other players have scored more goals in Serie A than Berardi (33).
