Real Sociedad have announced the arrival of Real Madrid youngster Martin Odegaard on a season-long loan deal.
Odegaard spent last season on loan at Vitesse and was a revelation for the Dutch side.
However, the 20-year-old is not deemed ready for a run in the Madrid first-team and has been allowed to get regular playing time elsewhere.
Madrid spent in the region of €100m to sign Eden Hazard from Chelsea this summer and are even contemplating Lucas Vazquez’s departure too.
Odegaard will spend next season on loan with LaLiga side Sociedad before assessing his future in 12 months.
The Norway international played a direct hand in 18 goals in 33 league appearances (excluding play-offs) for Vitesse last season and garnered an impressive WhoScored rating of 7.84 in that time.
Odegaard was one of eight players to register double figures for assists in the Eredivisie last term, while only two players won the WhoScored Man of the Match award more times than the Madrid loanee (nine).
Furthermore, only Steven Berghuis (117) provided more key passes than Odegaard (110).
