Manchester United confirm deal for Swansea winger James

Manchester United have confirmed they have reached a deal in principle to sign Swansea winger Daniel James.

United have fended off interest from a number of Premier League clubs for James’ signature after agreeing a reported £15m fee with the Championship outfit.

James had entered the final year of his Swansea contract and came close to joining Leeds in a £10m deal in January.

The Wales international, who was also linked to Monaco, only wanted to join United and completed his medical with the Red Devils on Thursday.

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants the club to move away from signing big names and focus on signing young, ambitious players.

James fits the profile Solskjaer craves and a deal will be completed fully after the youngster has fulfilled his international obligations with the Welsh national team in the next week.

The 21-year-old scored four goals and registered seven assists in 33 league appearances for Swansea last season.
