Manchester United to sell Pogba and fund huge summer spending spree
Manchester United are ready to cash in on out of favour midfielder Paul Pogba as they prepare to embark upon what is tipped to be a huge summer of spending at Old Trafford, according to The Mirror.
The Red Devils are willing to sell the man they brought back to the club just two years ago for what was a world record fee at the time, with the Frenchman’s relationship with manager Jose Mourinho believed to be the key to that stance.
While injuries have played a part, the 25-year-old has been left out of the last three starting XIs by his manager and is thought to be disillusioned with life back in Manchester as a result.
United are already lining up targets that they would chase should they sell Pogba, with Real Madrid pairing Raphael Varane and Toni Kroos at the top of a list thought to include PSG duo Marquinhos and Marco Verratti, as well as Juventus’ Alex Sandro.
The Premier League outfit would of course need to prioritise a replacement in midfield should Pogba depart, and links to both Kroos and Verratti suggest that they are on the lookout for a player that can dictate the play with their passing to partner Nemanja Matic.
The pair both rank among the top ten players in Europe’s top five leagues for passes per game, with Verratti (92.7) significantly ahead of the German (78) but it’s the Real Madrid star that boasts the superior accuracy, with 92.5% to the Italians 91.2%.
