PSG open talks with Wolfsburg star

Paris Saint-Germain have earmarked Wolfsburg left-back Ricardo Rodriguez as the long-term replacement for Maxwell and have contacted his agent about a possible move, claims RMC, via Get French Football.

The Ligue 1 champions are expected to dip into the January transfer market following their underwhelming start to the season under Unai Emery and PSG are already starting to draw up transfer targets ahead of the January window.

Emery is understood to be growing impatient with Layvin Kurzawa’s on going injury problems, while Maxwell, 35, is not the future for PSG anymore and only has seven months remaining on his existing deal.

Rodriguez, who is deadly from deadball situations, has previously been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in the past and Wolfsburg may struggle to keep hold of the 24-year-old should they continue to underperform in the Bundesliga.

In the last four Bundesliga campaigns only Zlatko Junuzovic (13) has registered more assists from set pieces than Rodriguez (11).
