Fiorentina have reached an agreement in principle with Genoa to sign star striker Giovanni Simeone in a deal worth €25m (£21.9m), reports Gazzetta dello Sport.
Simeone, who has also been linked with a move to Torino, only joined Genoa last summer in a €5.1m (£4.5m) deal from Argentinean giants River Plate.
However, the 21-year-old son of Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone endured an impressive maiden campaign in Serie A last season and is now on the verge of making a high profile move to Fiorentina.
The Viola will reportedly shell out an initial €20m and then could pay a further €5m if performance related add-ons are met during his time at the club.
Simeone scored 12 goals in 35 appearances for a Genoa side that finished last season four points above the bottom three. Furthermore, no player aged 21 and under scored more goals in Serie A last season than the Genoa No.9.
