Nicolo Barella has his heart set on joining Inter despite Cagliari accepting an offer from Roma, reports Gianluca Di Marzio.
Barella is one of the most sought after midfielders in Serie A and has the likes of Roma and Inter battling for his signature.
Roma reached an agreement with Cagliari to sign the Italy international but the 22-year-old is holding out for Inter.
Roma are willing to use Luca Pellegrini and Gregoire Defrel as makeweights in a deal to sign the Cagliari midfielder, which their Serie A rivals are happy with.
However, Inter are Barella’s preferred destination even though Antonio Conte’s side are yet to reach an agreement for the midfielder.
Chelsea were heavily linked with a move for Barella in January but it appears his future is in Italy.
Barella only missed three league matches for Cagliari last term and played a direct hand in four goals in that time (one goal, three assists).
The Italian starlet ranked fifth for tackles in Serie A last season (99) but had the worst conversion rate in the division (1.9%).
