Ajax agree terms for highly rated Argentina international
Ajax have reached an agreement to sign Defensa y Justicia left-back Lisandro Martinez in a deal worth €7m (£6.1m), claims Telegraaf.
The Eredivisie champions are expected to fetch in excess of £150m in player sales this summer after enjoying a stunning campaign.
Ajax completed a domestic treble and came agonisingly close to making the Champions League final.
Frenkie de Jong has already been sold to Barcelona and 19-year-old captain Matthijs de Ligt is expected to follow.
Ajax have confirmed star creator Hakim Ziyech is also free to leave this summer, while left-back Nicolas Tagliafico has been heavily linked with a move away.
Erik ten Hag’s side are prepared for Tagliafico’s departure having wrapped up a deal for Martinez pending a medical.
The 21-year-old, who has been compared to former Ajax defender Maxwell and made his senior Argentina debut in March, will sign a four-year deal with an option to an extra 12 months after agreeing personal terms with the Dutch side.
Martinez finished last season’s Superliga campaign as the fourth highest WhoScored rated player in the division (7.43).
Only team-mate Leonel Miranda (69.4) averaged more passes per league game than Martinez (62.8) and played a direct hand in five goals (two goals, three assists).
