Aston Villa have confirmed the signing of Senegalese midfielder Idrissa Gueye from Ligue 1 outfit Lille.
The 25-year old has signed a four-year deal at Villa Park and will link up with the squad, currently at a training camp in Portugal, on receipt of a UK visa.
Villa are believed to have paid in the region of €9m for a player identified as their first choice replacement for outgoing captain Fabian Delph.
Gueye had suitors in France as well as others in the Premier League but Villa signalled their intent with a notable offer for the midfielder.
Of all players to make at least 15 appearances in Ligue 1 last season Gueye picked up the highest WhoScored.com rating at Lille, with a figure of 7.41 enough to rank 16th in France's top-flight.
