Alexandre Lacazette has turned down Lyon’s opening contract extension that contained a €70m (£58.7m) buy-out clause, reports L’Equipe, via Get French Football.
The France international was heavily linked with a move away from the Ligue 1 side over the summer with a host of clubs from the Premier League keen on signing Lacazette.
However, Lyon refused to sell the 25-year-old and are now keen to tie down his long-term future and make him the club’s highest paid player.
Lacazette is currently the top goalscorer in Europe’s big five leagues having scored six goals in three appearances for Lyon this season.
