Jan Vertonghen is stalling on becoming the latest Tottenham player to commit their long-term future to the club, according to ESPN.
The 29-year-old has two years remaining on his existing deal and has agreed terms in principal for his extension.
However, the Belgium international is reportedly stalling on signing the deal but Tottenham are confident he will commit his future after forming a formidable centre-back partnership with international teammate Toby Alderweireld.
Only four players have completed more passes in their own half of the pitch than Vertonghen in the last three Premier League campaigns (1954).
