Manchester United not interested in Herrera’s £200,000-a-week wage demands

Manchester United are in a contract stand-off with Ander Herrera over the midfielder’s £200,000-a-week wage demands, claims The Daily Mirror.

Herrera’s current £130,000-a-week contract is due to expire at the end of the season and is demanding a significant wage hike to pledge his long-term future to the club.

Paris Saint-Germain are monitoring Herrera’s future at United and will firm up their interest if the 29-year-old leaves the Red Devils on a free transfer this summer.

The Ligue 1 giants want to sign a new central midfielder in the summer when they will lose Adrien Rabiot and will have no problem matching Herrera’s wage demands.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are prepared to offer Herrera a new deal worth £170,000-a-week but he is not prepared to settle for anything less than £200,000-a-week.

Herrera, who is settled in Manchester, is a fan favourite at the club but United are not prepared to fork out so much money for someone they deem replaceable.

The Spaniard has been limited to just 15 league starts this season but has established himself as a first-choice midfielder since Solskjaer was appointed manager before Christmas.

Herrera has played a direct hand in five league goals this season and his current WhoScored rating of 7.01 is a huge improvement of his return in the league last term (6.60).
