Everton not put off by £50m Sigurdsson valuation

Everton still want to sign Swansea star Gylfi Sigurdsson despite being told he will cost £50m, reports The Guardian.

Ronald Koeman’s side have spent nearly £100m on new signings this summer but the Everton manager has no intention of reigning in the club’s spending spree with at least two more arrivals planned.

Leicester have reportedly already had a stunning £40m bid for the Iceland international rejected, and while Everton have been taken back by Swansea’s staggering demands, they have not relented in their pursuit and hope to conclude a deal as quickly as possible.

Swansea are under no financial pressure to sell their best player and also have time on their side considering the 27-year-old only signed a new three-year deal last summer. The message is that Sigurdsson will be on the plane on Thursday morning for Swansea’s pre-season tour of America, meaning the next two days are critical for Everton’s pursuit.

Despite the fact Swansea battled relegation for all of last season, Sigurdsson still managed to weigh in with a staggering 22 Premier League goals for Paul Clement’s side. In fact, only Kevin De Bruyne (18) and Christian Eriksen (15) provided more assists in England’s top tier last term than the Swansea ace (13).
