Bayern Munich deny contact from Chelsea for Vidal

Bayern Munich manager Jump Heynckes insists Chelsea have not made an approach for Arturo Vidal and rubbished suggestions any player could leave this month.

Vidal has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge this month to reunite with Antonio Conte as the Chelsea manager looks to bolster his squad.

Any January move looks off the cards after Chelsea completed a £15m move for Ross Barkley on Friday and Heynckes is adamant that no Bayern player will leave the Allianz Arena this month.

“There’s no contact between Chelsea and Bayern. We won’t sell Arturo Vidal or any other player during the winter market,” Goal quote Heynckes as saying.

However, Vidal’s long-term future at Bayern remains unclear as the Bundesliga giants are the frontrunners to sign Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka at the end of the season.

Goretzka’s arrival would almost certainly force Vidal to find regular first-team football elsewhere.

The 30-year-old is currently the highest rated player in the Bundesliga this season (7.65) after scoring five goals and registering two assists in 14 appearance.
