Manchester United have not won the race to sign Atletico Madrid forward Arda Turan, claims the player’s agent.
Turan, 28, has expressed his desire to leave the Vicente Calderón Stadium this summer and took to his official Twitter account to confirm he would name the destination of his move by the weekend.
There have been reports claiming the Turkey international had already signed and passed his medical at Old Trafford, however his agent has refuted those claims, stating “Arda has not met with Manchester United or passed a medical. When you find out who his new team are on Friday you will all agree that we made the right choice."
It is no surprise that Turan is courting the attention of some of Europe’s leading clubs when you consider the defensive qualities he offers. Indeed, only Lionel Messi (86) and Carlos Vela (78) have retrieved possession more times in the attacking third in the last four La Liga campaigns than Turan (73).
