West Ham are weighing up a January move for Sunderland defender Lamine Kone, reports The Sun.
The Hammers desperately need to bolster their defensive options following their disastrous start to the season and Slaven Bilic has reportedly earmarked Kone as the ideal centre-back to ease their woes.
Kone, 29, joined Sunderland from Lorient for £6m at the start of the year and helped the Black Cats steer away from the bottom three before being heavily linked with a move to Everton in the summer.
David Moyes’ side refused to sell the Ivory Coast international before Kone eventually signed a new long-term deal with the club, although a release clause of £18m has caught the attention of West Ham ahead of the January transfer window.
Kone has made at least 101 more clearances than any other Sunderland player in the Premier League this year.
