Genoa manager Ivan Juric has confirmed Leonardo Pavoletti will join Napoli when the January transfer window opens.
Reports had emerged suggesting Pavoletti had secured an €18m (£15.1m) switch to Napoli in January and even picked his own house.
Napoli have been on the market for a new striker since selling Gonzalo Higuain to Juventus in the summer and the need to strengthen in attack was only heightened following Arkadiusz Milik’s long-term injury back in October.
However, the search now appears to be over after Genoa’s manager confirmed the move after their 1-0 win over Fiorentina on Thursday night.
“It looks as if there’s the possibility Pavoletti can leave and if he does then we hope an equally strong striker arrives. It’s disappointing, because he’s a splendid guy who really cares about the club colours,” Juric told Sky Sport Italia, via Football Italia.
Pavoletti has spent the last three seasons with Genoa after joining from Sassuolo in 2014 and he has been a regular goal scorer in that time.
In fact, the Italian striker has scored at least 10 more league goals than any other Genoa player during that time (23).
