Manchester United duo told they can leave this summer

Jose Mourinho has told Manchester United defenders Daley Blind and Matteo Darmian they are free to leave the club this summer, reports The Times.

Blind and Darmian have both dropped completely out of favour under Mourinho this season and neither have a future at the club.

Juventus are already in talks to sign Darmian and the Italy international is widely expected to return to Serie A three years after leaving to join the Red Devils.

Darmian has never looked comfortable since joining from Torino but United remain hopeful of recouping the £12.7m they spent to sign him.

Blind’s previous United deal was due to expire at the end of the season but United triggered their clause to a further 12 months back in March.

However, Mourinho has no interest in keeping Blind at the club and the club only extended his contract in order to retain some sell-on value this summer.

Mourinho will look to raise the money raised from their departures to sign two new defenders this summer.

Darmian and Blind have only started six Premier League games between them this season, while Blind has only made three appearances in all competitions in 2018.
