Newcastle United are monitoring Kalidou Koulibaly amid speculation the Napoli defender has an £8m release clause in his contract, according to Sky Italia.
Koulibaly has been one of Napoli’s best performers in the league this season and has already been linked with a move to Norwich and Southampton.
The Senegalese defender only joined Napoli from Genk 18 months ago and Napoli are likely to resit any approach for the 24-year-old.
Since the start of the season, only Raul Albiol (93) has made more clearances in Serie A than Koulibaly for Napoli (67).
