Ashley Cole in talks to reunite with Lampard at Derby

Championship side Derby are in talks to reunite Chelsea legend Ashley Cole with manager Frank Lampard, reports The Daily Mail.

LA Galaxy released Cole at the end of November after two years in America and the 38-year-old is still a free agent.

Cole hasn’t played in England since leaving Chelsea to join Roma in 2014 but is now in talks to make a sensational move to Derby on a deal until the end of the season.

The former England international is not the only option being considered by Lampard, as Derby currently have 21-year-old left-back Max Lowe out on loan.

The Rams have used four different players at left-back this season and Cole’s arrival would certainly add experience to their ranks and a winning mentality.

Cole made 57 league appearances across three seasons with LA Galaxy and even weighed in with nine assists in MLS last term, by far and away his best return in a single-league campaign in the last decade. In fact, no defender provided more assists in MLS last season than Cole.
