Raheem Sterling next to sign new Manchester City deal

Manchester City have prioritised securing Raheem Sterling’s long-term future after handing out new deals to David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne, Nicolas Otamendi and Fernandinho, claims The Daily Mail.

Pep Guardiola’s side are keen to protect the long-term future of a number of star players before the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona start to circle and are now working on a new contract for Sterling.

The England international’s current deal is due to expire in 2020 but City are keen to reward the 23-year-old with new terms to reflect his growing importance to the team.

Sterling’s form has been a major factor behind City’s breathtaking campaign and he is now set to pocket a basic wage of £220,000-a-week, which is a significant advance on his current £180,000-aweek salary.

The City No.7 is currently enjoying his best ever goalscoring season as a professional, having scored 14 goals in 22 Premier League appearances for the Citizens.
