Atletico Madrid have rebuffed an offer from Spurs for striker Jackon Martinez, according to Marca.
Spurs have been on the market for a new striker to help ease the goalscoring burden on Harry Kane and would seem to have earmarked Martinez as a possible transfer target this month.
Martinez, 29, still has four years left to run on the five-year deal he signed when he joined Atletico from Porto over the summer, but the Colombia international has struggled to settle and openly admitted to being in poor form.
The Atletico striker has dropped down the pecking order as a result, but Spurs have failed to prize him away from the Vicente Calderon with their first offer and it remains to be seen whether Mauricio Pochettino’s men will come back with a fresh offer.
Martinez has only started eight league games for Diego Simeone’s side this season and has just two goals to his name in that time, with his last coming way back in October.
