Valencia have confirmed Simone Zaza has secured a season-long loan move to Serie A side Torino.
Los Che signed Zaza from Juventus in a permanent deal 16 months ago after a failed stint with West Ham in the Premier League.
The Italy international appeared to have successfully re-built his career with Valencia last season, scoring 13 goals in 33 league appearances for the Spanish outfit.
Zaza’s form even earned a recall to the Italian national team for the first time since his missed penalty at Euro 2016, but Valencia head coach Marcelino has taken the club in a different direction this summer.
Valencia have overhauled the club’s offensive options by signing Michy Batshuayi and Kevin Gameiro from Chelsea and Atletico Madrid, respectively.
Deemed surplus to requirements, Zaza has been free to broker a move away from Valencia all month and he has now secured a return to Italy with Torino, who have to make the switch permanent next summer.
The 27-year-old looked set to join Sampdoria earlier this week but Torino have successfully managed to hi-jack the move and hope Zaza can form a strong partnership with star striker Andrea Belotti.
Since the start of the 2016/17 campaign, Valencia’s win ratio in La Liga with Zaza in the starting XI is far superior (60.5%) compared to when he has not featured from the off (31.6%).
