Hoffenheim sign Bayern Munich winger

Hoffenheim have announced they have reached an agreement with Bayern Munich to take Serge Gnabry on loan for the whole of next season.

Gnabry only joined Bayern from Werder Bremen at the start of June and looked to be assured of a place in the squad following the departure of Douglas Costa to Juventus.

However, Carlo Ancelotti’s side have decided it would be best for his development if he got regular first-team football elsewhere and Hoffenheim  are the happy beneficiaries.

Julian Nagelsmann’s side wanted to sign Gnabry from Bremen but were beaten to his signature by their Bundesliga rivals. However, they will at least have his services for next season when they will be competing in the Champions League.

Gnabry was part of the Germany U21 squad that won the European Championships earlier this summer, which capped off a sublime campaign for the 22-year-old.

The former Arsenal forward scored 11 goals in 27 appearances for Bremen in the Bundesliga last season. In fact, only three players scored more away league goals in the Bundesliga last season than the German (10).
