Real Madrid are poised to be handed a decisive blow in their pursuit of Eden Hazard with the Premier League set to sign a lucrative new deal, claims talkSPORT.
Zinedine Zidane’s side have rekindled their long-standing interest in Hazard following his sensational return to form this season with Chelsea set to regain their Premier League title.
Madrid usually get their way when they register an interest in a player and their aggressive pursuit of Hazard only appeared to be heading one way, however Chelsea have now reportedly made a huge breakthrough in their attempts to fend off interest in their No.10.
Hazard’s current deal isn’t due to expire until 2020 but Chelsea are reportedly willing to offer the Belgium international a club record £300,000-a-week contract in order to retain his services and he is expected to agree to it.
The Belgian is currently the highest rated player in the Premier League and is expected to regain the PFA Player of the Year award he won in 2015 when Chelsea last won the league title (7.89 rating).
