Tottenham and Chelsea on red alert as midfield target rejects contract
Tottenham and Chelsea have been put on red alert after it emerged that Franck Kessie has rejected a new deal with AC Milan, reports Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport.
Kessie has less than 12 months left to run on is current contract with the Italian powerhouse and has been attracting interest from across the continent.
The Ivorian is yet to make a league appearance for the Italian side this season following his participation at the Olympics in Japan over the summer.
The 24-year-old hit the back of the net 13 times in Serie A in 2020/21 and AC Milan have been keen to extend his stay in Italy.
However, they are now resigned to losing Kessie either in January or next summer on a free transfer.
The Ivory Coast international is free to negotiate a pre-contract in the New Year, so AC Milan need to act qucikly in order to either agree a fee with potential suitors or put forward a more suitable offer for the player.
Spurs were linked with a late move for Kessie in the summer transfer window, yet failed to secure the services of one of their top targets.
The north London side won't have a free run at Kessie, with Chelsea also rumoured to be monitoring the former Atalanta man.
