Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is not only looking to poach Virgil van Dijk away from Southampton but is also interested in re-signing Ryan Bertrand from Claude Puel’s side this summer, reports The London Evening Standard
The Premier League champions-elect have cantered to the title this season but Conte is preparing for a summer of huge investment as Chelsea gear up for a return of Champions League football next season.
Chelsea are expected to strengthen all areas of the pitch and Conte is even willing to re-sign Bertrand, which would be an acceptance that they were wrong to let him go to Southampton permanently back in 2015.
The 27-year-old has established himself as one of the best full-backs in the Premier League since making the switch to Southampton and is now a regular in the England set-up when fit.
In the last three Premier League campaigns only Jose Fonte (237) has completed more interceptions of Southampton players than Bertrand (171).
