Bournemouth have followed up the arrival of Dominic Solanke from Liverpool by signing Nathaniel Clyne from their Premier League counterparts.
The Cherries announced a shock long-term deal for Solanke on Friday afternoon after agreeing a reported £19m for the 21-year-old.
With Jermain Defoe on the verge of joining Rangers on a long-term loan deal, Eddie Howe has sought cover in attack by signing the highly rated Liverpool striker.
Bournemouth have successfully also solved a problem position at right-back by offering Clyne the chance of regular first-team football at Dean Court on loan for the remainder of the season.
Clyne has dropped out of favour at Liverpool over the last 12 months and is now considered the club's fourth choice right-back under Jurgen Klopp.
“I’m really excited by this opportunity,” the former Southampton defender told Bournemouth’s official website. “It’s a great chance for me to come and play football.
“I’ve spoken to the manager and we’ve talked about what we can achieve for the remainder of the season. It’s a great club with a great story. I can’t wait to get going.”
Clyne is eligible to make his Bournemouth debut in Saturday’s FA Cup third round clash at home to Brighton and is expected to start given the current injury crisis at right-back.
Clyne has only managed more than 10 minutes of playing time on two occasions this season, with the last of those coming in Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Manchester United midway through last month.
