Borussia Dortmund have confirmed Mats Hummels will re-join Bayern Munich in the summer after both teams agreed on a fee.
Hummels, 27, only had 12 months remaining on his current Dortmund deal but signalled his intentions to leave and return to Bayern seven years after first leaving them.
Dortmund have opted to cash in on the Germany international rather than let him run down his contract in the summer and he will now return to his boyhood club pending a medical examination and sign a five-year deal with the Bundesliga champions.
"Mats is one of the world's best centre backs. He will increase the quality of our team even more," Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
Since August 2009 no player has completed more tackles and interceptions in the Bundesliga than Hummels (1,050).
