Reports of Tottenham's interest in Southampton striker Shane Long intensified over the weekend after the player's agent was pictured sitting alongside manager Mauricio Pochettino in Republic of Ireland's 1-0 win over Netherlands on Friday evening, reports the Telegraph.
Long was on target on the half hour mark to secure a victory in the build up to Euro 2016, which will have appeased Pochettino in his bid to strengthen his attack this summer.
Saints boss Ronald Koeman is keen to retain Long's services, with the experienced frontman establishing himself as the club's first choice striker in recent months.
Spurs were linked with a move for the 29-year-old in January, only to rebuffed in their advances of the striker but Saints, who were also forced to deny reports suggesting Liverpool were courting Long.
Long netted 10 goals and registered a further four assists in the Premier League this season as Saints secured a place in the Europa League following a stunning end to the season.
Indeed, only Leicester (42) secured more Premier League points in 2016 than Saints (39).
