Verona have announced that Luca Toni will hold a press conference on Wednesday to confirm his retirement after a 22-year playing career.
Toni, 38, was widely expected to hang up his boots last season but agreed to stay on and help Verona remain in Serie A.
However, the Italian minnows failed to beat the drop on this occasion despite Toni’s best efforts and he will now call it a day at the end of season.
Toni finished last season as the joint top goalscorer in Serie A (22), but he has failed to reproduce similar form this season, scoring five times in 22 appearances.
